Mücahid Cihad Han (pictured above) is a popular Muslim televangelist from Turkey. He recently warned followers that men who masturbate will be greeted by their “pregnant hand in the afterlife.”

The statement came at a Q&A session during Sunday’s taping, when one of Han’s viewers asked the preacher about masturbation.

The man claimed he was addicted to pleasuring himself, saying he “kept masturbating, although he was married, and even during the Umrah,” the holy pilgrimage to Mecca performed by Muslims. Continue reading

Gay Muslim Filmmaker Threatened Over Film About Being Gay And Muslim

parvezA Muslim filmmaker has discussed the danger involved in making a film about being gay and Muslim.

Parvez Sharma – whose film ‘A Sinner in Mecca’ premièred this week in Toronto – spoke about the extreme threats he received. Before the film had even been seen, Sharma had received a flurry of hate mail and death threats from angry Muslims worldwide. The film features as part of the ‘Hot Docs’ film festival, and the event organizers were forced to add extra security to the premiere to ensure Sharma’s safety, as well as that of the viewers attending the three sold-out showings.

To make the film, Sharma had to secretly record his journey to Mecca on his iPhone and other small devices, as filming is illegal in Saudi Arabia and homosexuality is punishable by death.

“I was terrified because they reserve the death penalty for people like me,” Sharma told CBC News. Continue reading

What Islam Says

gayislamOverall, the share of people who say that homosexuality should be accepted or at least tolerated by society has increased in the past number of years. However, among the religions, there is still a fierce opposition to support for societal acceptance of homosexuality. When asked for reasons why they still take this stand, the common answer is “homosexuality conflicts with the religious or moral beliefs.”

Having taken time during the outgoing year to x-ray the above point from the Christian perspective, there is the need to provide a balance and more insights from other religions, especially Islam, which is no doubt one of the major religions practiced in Nigeria. Other religions around the world will be considered in due course as the incoming year goes by.

This exercise is by no means an attempt to ridicule Islam but exclusively aimed at objectively informing us, having in mind that solving a problem starts with identifying its roots. Since I’m not a Muslim and cannot claim to know Islam more than its adherents and for purpose of fairness, I will try as much as possible to restrict myself to quotes from the Quran, Hadiths and Islamic Scholars on the subject of homosexuality in my attempt to bring to light the thoughts of Islamic religion on Homosexuality.

Islam goes beyond mere disapproval of homosexuality. It teaches that homosexuality is a terrible and dirty form of fornication punishable by death. Continue reading

article-2729055-20A3D26600000578-500_634x456Beaming with pride, their faces wreathed in smiles, Sahar Mosleh and Maryam Iranfar finally tied the knot after nine years together.

But the moment proved bittersweet for the couple, as both come from Iran – a country where homosexuals can pay with their lives for falling in love.

In Iran, the pair would have faced a penalty of 50 lashes for the first time they were caught together, a punishment that would have been repeated on a further two occasions. Had they been caught together a fourth time, the death penalty would be applied.

‘I’m glad that this is a happy couple who can now form family after many years of struggle,’ added a thrilled Imam Zahed. ‘It’s a long journey to leave your homeland, come to a foreign country and manage to form a new life together.’ Continue reading
