Bradley Cooper Hopes To Direct and Co-Star with Beyoncé in ‘A Star Is Born’ Remake

star_is_beyoncedAh, A Star Is Born — ageless and evergreen. The classic tale of a future has-been eclipsed by the rising stardom of his more talented wife has been remade more times in Hollywood than Kim Kardashian’s changed lovers. Hoping to turn this dream into a reality, noted Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper is in talks with Warner Bros. to make his directorial debut with the film, according to Deadline. But who — who, I ask?! — could possibly fill the shoes immortally inhabited by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand?

Beyoncé…

Say it softly, and it’s almost like praying.

Queen Bey was previously on board when Clint Eastwood was attached to direct his own Star Is Born, but production was plagued by delays, most notably an actual star being born by the name of Blue Ivy Carter. In addition to Cooper, Eastwood had several male leads in mind, from Will Smith to Leonardo DiCaprio and even the real Mr. Knowles-Carter, Jay-Z. Bey eventually dropped out in 2012, citing her busy schedule. Little did we know that she was about to shut down the entire music industry and still walk away without an Album of the Year Grammy.

Cooper and Warner Bros. haven’t yet approached Mrs. Carter about the role of several lifetimes, but they’re certainly going to give it the old college try.

A Star Is Born was originally produced in 1937 starring Janet Gaynor and Frederick March, but it had its greatest iteration in 1954 when Judy Garland belted her way to a Best Actress Oscar nomination alongside James Mason as her alcoholic husband. Then in 1976, Barbra Streisand starred in a remake with Kris Kristofferson, pulling a Best Original Song Oscar out of her Jewfro for “Evergreen.”

Beyoncé has had moderate success with her acting career — receiving the occasional positive review and giving us the masterpiece that is Obsessed — but A Star Is Born could be the vehicle that finally drives her straight to the Academy — whether for acting or songwriting.

Make this happen, Bradley Cooper, and we might just forgive you for The Hangover movies. “Might” being the operative word.

  1. Beyonce is not a good actress! Let us call a spade a spade! She will generate enough buzz and publicity for the movie but her acting always falls below par!

Beyonce? To play the same role Judy Garland aced?

    ***long hiss***

Oya ndi beyhive bring your knives

  2. “Giving us the masterpiece that is obsessed”? Are you kidding? What kind of opium is the hive feeding you guys?
Oh I have an idea, he should cast Mr. Carter in the lead, then he’ll be remaking a star is born and Gigli. When they don’t win the Oscars, they can at least sweep the razzies.

A remake does not an Oscar win, shikena!

    • My thoughts exactly.. Opium..
(Obsessed)It was a masterpiece because his two obsessions were in the movie. People he’d jump off the empire state building for just to take a selfie with them (plenty pun intended),

What has Bradley cooper done to you guys again o!
I thought the HangOver sequels were top notch. (Or Did they make Gay Jokes? Really can’t remember)

    • Oh c’mon, not everything is gay related, this post is not even gay related.
The third part of the hangover was a disaster and it was not because of any gay jokes. It was just bad, simple as that.

      • it was just a question? And I need some clearification.
“not everything is gay related, the post is not gay related” I didn’t think you needed to add that.

The 3rd part was a disaster.. But not enough to cancel out the awesomeness of the first 2 sequels. (Nways what do I know)

      • Yes you needed clarification but if you had not added that last question about the gay joke, you would have gotten a clarification based on the movie.
I added that because you added it first, it’s a cause and reaction thing.
We are not canceling out how good the first two installments are, they were good in most people’s opinion but the issue we have here is the third part which was totally horrendous as evidenced by the critical reception and box office haul.
So the earlier comment about maybe forgiving Bradley was a sight quip, a little humorous jab.
That is all my brother, shikena!
